Well and city installations differ
On city water you are usually adding a filter or softener to an existing, predictable supply. On a well, the treatment train has to be designed from a test result, and the sequence, sediment, then iron or neutralizer, then softener, then carbon, then any disinfection, needs more equipment and more commissioning. Ask who is responsible if the system fails to hit the treated water target, and what the maintenance schedule and media replacement interval will be, since running costs over the years usually outweigh the installation.
