What has to fit under there

Tank behavior matters too: the air charge is set with the tank drained, and a waterlogged tank is the usual reason a system delivers a cupful and stops. Expect the dedicated faucet to run slower than the main tap, because it is fed from a small tank rather than the mains. If the household drinks a lot, size on daily production rather than on the headline capacity number alone.

Living with it after the install

Sediment and carbon prefilters come first on the schedule, because they protect the membrane, and chlorine reaching a membrane through an exhausted carbon stage is what ends membranes early. The membrane itself lasts far longer when the prefilters are kept fresh. Sanitize the system and the tank when you do a full filter change, flush thoroughly, and discard the first tankfuls. Keep a TDS reading from the day of commissioning, both before and after the system, since comparing against that baseline later is the simplest honest check that the membrane is still working. Label the housings with dates, and keep the wrench that came in the box somewhere you will find it.
