Rarely. Each media type targets a class of contaminant, so real systems are trains: a sediment stage, then carbon or a specialty bed, then point-of-use polishing where needed. A vendor promising one cartridge that fixes iron, chlorine, hardness and bacteria at once is describing a product that does not exist.

Do water filtration systems work on well water?
