UV only works on clear water: particles shadow organisms from the light, and iron films coat the quartz sleeve. Do I need a purification system if my well tests clean?

Not necessarily: a well with consistently clean coliform results needs monitoring, not purification. Many owners still fit UV as low-maintenance insurance because contamination can follow floods or well work without warning.

Does reverse osmosis purify well water?

RO removes a very wide range of dissolved contaminants at the tap it serves, but manufacturers do not position household RO as a standalone microbial safety barrier. Bacteria-positive wells get UV or chlorination at the main line first.

Is shock chlorination the same as a chlorination system?
