Private wells are not federally regulated, as the EPA notes, so the owner orders the analysis: a certified lab panel covering bacteria, nitrates, pH, hardness, iron, manganese and total dissolved solids covers the common well problems, with local additions where your county health department flags regional concerns. Sample the way the lab instructs, because a badly taken bacteria sample fails on technique rather than water. Acting on the result, including a clean one
A clean report is a real answer: file it, retest on a regular rhythm and after any flood or repair, and buy nothing in between.
